There are three things that mark the career of an American singer: to win a Grammy in different years with different albums, sing the national anthem for the President or on the occasion of a great event, and last but not least, perform at the SuperBowl. But, if you can accomplish the last two things in one lifetime, then you may not care as much about selling millions of CDs around the world.

Katy Perry must have thought this Sunday night as she entered the field of Phoenix University Stadium on the back of a mechanical tiger to begin her Halftime Show. Fun and amusement, Katy Perry sang and danced. She was a generous host, and shared the stage with two large stars, Lenny Kravitz, who was sexy and perfect in the duet “I Kissed a Girl”, and Missy Elliott. It looked something like a spirited cartoon never seen during a Superbowl, between shark-dancers and dancing balls, light, and fireworks.

If she was stretched thin due to the enormous pressure suffered in the weeks prior to the event, Katy Perry never let on, deceiving everyone and diverting attention from her but with her eyes on her. If her vocal performance was beautiful (made up of a medley of his biggest hits), but not considered great like last year’s performance by Beyonce or monumental as that of Madonna a few years earlier, her outfits and her costume changes definitely captured attention and made up for it.

Katy Perry staged a sort of personal fashion show with the help of her friend and designer Jeremy Scott, creative director of Moschino. The first outfit was a flamboyant, colorful dress. The entry had to be triumphant, it was still the Halftime Show, but the dress was not amazing because of the mechanical tiger that Katy came in on. The second look was in the style of “California Gurl”, colorful, witty, and playful as the best Disney cartoon, and here Katy has a center, to make mistakes, and then with the third outfit worn during the duet with Missy Elliott. The air from the rapper poorly suited to the always sensual Perry, but Missy’s oversized shirt was more in tune with the environment and with her style.

A cascade of stars and sparkles were shown in the finale: a star among stars and numerous LEDs inside the stadium, Katy ended the show with spirited and hopeful “Firework” wrapped in a white dress and full of stars. “Brighter than the moon,” the song says, and Katy, mindful of its words, has hit the mark. 20,000 crystals were used in total for her outfits, but it was a night to celebrate, so we should enjoy it to the end.

And while the Patriots were winning their fourth Super Bowl against the Seahawks, Tom Brady entered the history of football and kissed his happy wife Gisele Bundchen, and everyone already started thinking about who will sing at the next Superbowl, to be exact the Fiftieth (and already rumors of the name of the friend/enemy of Perry, Taylor Swift), Katy Perry smiled happily as he tattooed the number 49 on the ring left. All in all, dressed in total looks from Jeremy Scott, he knew he had won.
