A modern fairy tale is staged at Place du Trucadero. The most romantic European capital has witnessed the magic that only Elie Saab knows how to give. During a short presentation there will be a return of that myth for millions of girls and women known as Cinderella, the tale told for excellence perhaps forever, and Elie Saab has told a story like that, only in a more oriental way.

Among docile leafy branches and relentless music that brings to life the streets of Beirut, the birthplace of the designer, the tale has been told, starting from that Cinderella lived happily ever after, with princely clothes, sumptuous, rich in precious details and glittering.

A cascade of light covering women’s bodies, crisp and light clothes for dancing, long aftermath of the skirts, precious stones, feathers, silk and organza in a romantic and delicate mix that has made the most of a heart throb among those present. Nature has accompanied the final part of a collection that has captured all: flower petals just bloomed enriched precious clothes already, but nature does not weigh anything, if anything it gives grace, as in this case.

The shades used are delicate, ethereal, to be brilliant at the end, and the wonder of nature is shown in colors like green, pink and white, also black sparkles and finds harmony. But the truth that by Elie Saab wanted to show how things really are or why all of us love this ancient fable: the truth is more than Prince Charming or the glass slippers, Cinderella has always envied the dress for the ball.

Less “fabulous” but theatrical as only they know to be his shows is the collection of Jean Paul Gaultier. After last year’s parade event and the announcement of wanting to occupy only of Haute Couture, the wait was great.

A show within the show, where the protagonists were unconventional brides, dressed in leather clothes and blood-red crystal studs, dresses/suits with denim pants in white transparent tulle, adherent bodices and skirts that are not always symmetrical. Some even remembered those bridesmaids dress, short dresses, two-tone and brilliant.

A bizarre marriage, celebrated to the tune of a remixed classic by Billy Idol “White Wedding”, where artists like Madonna, remembered through the reinterpretation of the famous conical bra, would give their best while Naomi Campbell seemed a little out of place.

It takes a strong sense of irony and humor to love this collection of the French fashion designer, and the panther of the walkway is not known why.

Ironic, irreverent, colorful and bubbly is also the collection presented by Viktor & Rolf. If Elie Saab prefers romance, Gaultier the playful aspect, this maison tips on the side of excess, exaggeration of lines, shapes, colors, and patterns. Nothing goes unnoticed.

Applications and details catch the eye by their size: huge flowers, showy, even defying the laws of gravity are so large and perfectly posing. And ‘how to meet a girl from the countryside’ which has enriched his Sunday suit for the first meeting with the city, but unfortunately it is likely the only clash, before you even leave.
